Service Learning
Integrated, reflective, contextualized

Taking action and providing service are core values of an IB education. Students take action when they apply what they are learning. Students of all ages demonstrate skills related to being caring, principled, open-minded and collaborative when they are actively involved in service. Through service learning, we build a community that values action for the benefit of others.
Students can understand the importance of accepting responsibility, build empathy for the needs of others, collaborate and communicate within teams, enhance social skills, and reflect on outcomes. By creating service from their learning, students can understand the impact of their actions within both local and global contexts.
At I-Shou International School, we provide a wide range of opportunities for students to take action that benefits a range of communities. These occur in classes, through a wide range of activities and sports, special service opportunities, student-initiated and school-based service activities, the Community Project, and the Global Exploration Trips.
Service Learning at I-Shou is integrated, reflective, contextualized, involves partnerships with reciprocal benefits and enhances lifelong learning.
