義大焦點 IN FOCUS Week 9

01Reflecting on Ourselves

As we are now well into the first semester of the “Year of Being Reflective” students at the ISIP have been finding creative ways to reflect on themselves. Reflection is a useful process which helps us better understand our strengths, interests, motivations, and areas which we need to work on.

To help our young students reflect, teachers interviewed each student and asked them some age appropriate questions which would help guide their thinking. What do you enjoy doing? What are you really good at? What is a skill you would like to learn? What is something you wish you were better at?

After answering these questions, student responses will be displayed on our “Wall of Reflection”. We hope that parents can look at these responses as they enter our school and help their children achieve their goals with us!

023-Way Conferences in the Primary Department

3-way conferences in the Primary Department have begun! This week, parents of grades 4 and 5 were invited to join their child and homeroom teachers for a conversation about their successes, progress and goals.

During the conferences, students took the initiative to share their recent personal work and learning goals for this semester. Parents also expressed their expectations for their children. Teachers showed students' learning progress and achievements.

These meetings help to establish a solid foundation for the growth of students to achieve diverse and meaningful learning goals with the joint efforts and cooperation of teachers, students and parents.

03Learning is fun in the International Secondary Department (ISD) Design Class

School Anniversary Day on Oct 15 was fun for everyone! International Secondary MYP Design students used their creative and woodworking skills to design, measure, cut, and paint the famous 9 and 3/4 Station from the book “Harry Potter'' in Teacher Ming’s design class. Their amazing work is showcased in Anniversary Day and the upcoming Winter Concert.

04Technology Supports Learning in the Secondary Bilingual Department (SBD)

Teaching and learning can be interactive and fun! Teachers use various interactive apps such as Kahoot, Blooket or Padlet to support teaching and learning in SBD. Students love those activities in class. Through the support of technology, students are motivated and engaged in class.
