02Primary Department’s Weeklong Distance Learning

Distance Learning in the Primary Department went smoothly this week. Teachers were enthusiastic in professionally planning and delivering Distance Learning lessons across subjects. Students were highly engaged in our transdisciplinary content while being able to study safely, and stay healthy at home.

Depending on the subject, we provided both synchronous and asynchronous lessons: including the Morning Meeting, live math, live language, project-based asynchronous UOI, and online office hours with teachers. Additionally, we provided support classes for students to meet with teachers in order to ask questions and get extra support to ensure quality and progress in student learning.

Professionalism, passion, and flexibility allow us to learn remotely together!

03A Positive Transition to Distance Learning in the Middle School Department

The Middle School Department (MSD) at I-Shou International School has made a very smooth transition to Distance Learning thanks to the combined efforts of our students, teachers, parents, and administration.

We have received a lot of positive feedback from our Middle School students regarding Distance Learning. One MSD student reported, “We have more time to do our assignments and review for our tests”. Another MSD student stated, “I like the flexibility of the Distance Learning approach that I-Shou has taken.”

It is great to hear that our students have such positive responses to our solid Distance Learning program in the MSD.

Keep up the good work everyone and we look forward to seeing you in person soon.

04International Secondary Department - Teaching and Learning as Usual

While the transition to Distance Learning occurred suddenly, it has not stopped lessons and learning taking place throughout this week.

The teachers, building on their experience from last year, moved seamlessly into a week of synchronous lessons, using apps such as Kahoot, Edpuzzle, Seneca and Flipgrip to deliver high quality and engaging lessons. The students were equally impressive, maintaining their commitment to their schedule and attending every lesson ready to learn and showing a really positive attitude.

We look forward to next week, when once again the IC becomes a busy and bustling campus, but for now we say “well done” to both faculty and students for making this week so successful.

05Distance Learning: Effective Teaching & Learning in the Secondary Bilingual Department

Due to the COVID-19 situation, I-Shou shifted to Distance Learning for one week. With the experience from last year, teachers have transformed and equipped themselves with the necessary skills for distance learning. Even though the school transitioned to Distance Learning on short notice, the teachers were well prepared.

Teachers in the SBD used various approaches to support students’ learning throughout Distance Learning. Students were highly engaged in each class, virtually! SBD senior students utilized the time wisely to undertake a trial of the MOE e-portfolio for their university applications.

Although the Distance Learning this week was well delivered to students, all of the community members cannot wait to come back on campus next Monday.

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
