義大焦點 IN FOCUS WEEK 7

01Council of International Schools (CIS) Preparatory Visit to I-Shou

Two representatives from the Council of International Schools concluded their preparatory visit to our school this week (March 27-30). Our guests were warmly welcomed and spoke glowingly of our school!

A series of classroom visits and meetings with students, parents, faculty, staff, and school leaders were held in response to the school's recently submitted report as part of our preliminary planning for the full CIS/IB reaccreditation visit scheduled for the 2024-25 school year.

Under the leadership of International Headmaster Matt and Director Tim, a Steering Committee of faculty and administrators developed the preliminary report and will now supervise the completion of a full Self-Study during the months ahead. They participated in a full workshop on Thursday conducted by CIS evaluator Dr. Helena designed to assist in the Self-Study planning.

Thank you to all members of our school community who participated in this important process!

02House Sports Event at I-Shou International Preschool

Last Saturday the ISIP held a special House Sports event. This was a day for the students to take part in different exciting games and spend a fun morning outside getting some exercise. The four houses of Aethra, Aqua, Ignis, and Terra competed in several activities to see which team could accumulate the most House Chips, and be declared House Champions. In the end it was Aqua House who won the most House Chips, but every team did a great job and enjoyed the special event.

The day began with some small competitions to test students' ability to catch a ball, those who caught the ball successfully won points for their team. We then had a whole school competition to see which team could work together to collect the most plastic balls and bring them to their House’s area. In the second half of the event students rotated to four stations where they; tested their throwing, running, and soccer skills.

03Primary Department Teachers Participate In Group Discussion

During the Primary Department meeting on Wednesday, Primary Years Programme Coordinator (PYPC) Tr. John led the teachers in a group inquiry and reflection within a community circle. Through group discussion, teachers were able to apply the techniques they learn to social-emotional learning, dealing with students' behaviours, leading morning meetings, and promoting health and wellbeing.

The community circle method will provide opportunities for classes and students to express themselves and demonstrate resilience when faced with various challenges.

04Mixing Paints in the International Secondary Department (ISD) Visual Arts Classes

ISD Grade 9 students are learning about incremental value transitions and learning to control the paint brush. They are mixing acrylic paints to demonstrate the incremental value transitions. They are also developing their control of both paint and brush as they try to keep within the boundaries of the grids they drew.

05Testing Does Not Define You, But You Have Reasons To Rock It!

This week is the term exam week for the Secondary Bilingual Department. All students were busy reviewing what they have learned in the past 6 weeks.

How to keep a balanced life has become a highlight this week. Through the Social Emotional Learning courses, students did the “Test Prep Word Search” challenge to learn some tips for managing the stress during test week.

Students enjoyed the activity. Wish them have great performance on their test!
