義大焦點 IN FOCUS Week 6

01School Anniversary Day Preparations Have Begun

Everyone at the ISIP is excited for the upcoming school anniversary day on Saturday, October 15th. This is always a special event for our community but this year there is added excitement as we welcome parents back to this celebration. In recent years COVID restrictions have prevented this event from taking place as usual and we are thrilled to once again invite our entire community to share this day together.

The ISIP students have been busy practicing their performance for the opening celebrations. Following their performance, students, teachers, and parents will be returning to the ISIP for some fun activities. Children and their parents will also be encouraged to explore the Fun Fair at the Main Campus and sample some of the food and games that are available.

We look forward to this day and hope to see all our children and parents in attendance!

Thank you.

02The Primary Department House Chip Winner Is…

The beginning of October means that it is time to count the House chips for the month of September. This first winner of the year is…Ignis!

Congratulations for all of your hard work!

House chips are given in the Primary Department for displaying positive behaviour, Learner Profile traits and ATL skills. These House chips are collected and counted at the end of each month. The winning House will receive a “raffle chip” for the chance to win a popsicle party in January! At the end of the year, the House with the most amount of wins will get a pizza party!

The House Chip system offers a fun and tangible way for students to be recognized for their positive actions and behaviour throughout the year.

03International Secondary Department IB Diploma Science Project

Grade 12 IB Diploma students participated in the Group 4 mandatory science activity this week.  The main purpose of the activity is to demonstrate the collaboration between different disciplines in science when making discoveries, testing theories or sharing data. Students are given a limited amount of time to plan, collaborate and design investigations that incorporate a common theme, in this case, “Energy”. The project involved one day of on-site data collection and one day of lab analysis before finally giving a brief presentation of their findings to their underclassmen.

Congratulations to our DP students and teachers for a successful real-world learning experience!

04First Robotics Competition (FRC) Program in the Secondary Bilingual Department

The First Robotics Competition (FRC) is one of the biggest robotics competitions in the world. With the STEM-focused curriculum in the Secondary Bilingual Department, we highly promote the FRC program during activity time. Two professional coaches come to I-Shou and guide our students to explore the world of robotics. Our students just signed up for the competition in 2023. Silver Hawks (Team 9126) will represent I-Shou to attend the FRC regional game.
