義大焦點 IN FOCUS WEEK 18

01Lushan Book Delivery Day!

The PYP Exhibition is an important event, and the true power of this culmination of the PYP comes in the lasting and ongoing learning and dispositions that students gain. Students finish the PYP changed and instilled with a service learning mindset. Such is the case with Miki, Alfie, and David and their school resources project. Their project’s final piece came to fruition this Tuesday with the books from their book drive being delivered to Lushan for distribution to Lushan Elementary and surrounding indigenous village schools. Dale Jessee, followed up with a heartfelt message to the students for their meaningful action.

02Middle School Distance Learning and Grade 6 Graduation Highlight Week 18

This week in Middle School we adopted Distance Learning Method B, which involves some synchronous and some asynchronous classes, with a weekly schedule sent out on Monday morning via Managebac on a Google Sheet.  Our teachers and students have been very versatile, switching between Distance Learning Methods, hybrid, and in-person as the situation requires.

This week we also celebrated our Grade 6 graduation with hybrid celebrations. The hybrid graduation celebration was a big success! At I-Shou we are proud to celebrate the accomplishments and learning journeys of our students.

03Week 18 Commencement Week

This week, we said congratulations to both our Grade 9 and Grade 12 students who attended their respective Middle School and High School commencement ceremonies. While they are at very different times in their educational careers, what stood out in both events was the genuine love of the school (especially the teachers) and how deeply the school’s guiding principles and mission had formed their opinion on what type of people they dreamed to be. Both classes truly represent the best I-Shou International School.

It was a wonderful celebration of success, and we wish both classes the very best of luck in what they are doing next!

04Busy but Wonderful Week in Secondary Bilingual Department

Distance learning continues in week 18. Project-based assessments are in progress in various classes. Students shared their research in different classes.

Another important and significant event this week is the commencement ceremonies for the grade 9 and grade 12 students. It was also a very special day seeing students and parents celebrating these important milestones. Grade 9 graduates conveyed their appreciation to teachers in-person before the commencement. Grade 12 graduates have all received acceptances to their preferred universities.

We wish all the best to the Class of 2022!
