02Learning About Animals at I-Shou International Preschool

This Unit of Inquiry, the PK class has been learning about animals. They have been exploring what animals eat, and how they act. This is always a fun topic for our PK students as they are very curious and motivated to learn about the different animals of the world.

This week, Tr. Susan brought in some special guests for the class. Two guinea pigs spent the week at the ISIP.  The students are experiencing firsthand the joys and responsibilities of caring for these small, sociable creatures. The introduction of the guinea pigs has not only brought smiles and laughter but also valuable learning opportunities for the young learners as the PK teachers have incorporated them into various subjects,

Through experiences like this our students begin to ask more questions about the world around them and begin to understand their responsibility as humans to take care of the natural world.

03Primary Department Writing Fair

This year, the Primary Department has planned a series of exciting exhibitions, with the Writing Fair being the highlight of recent events.

Each grade focuses on the core concepts of their Units of Inquiry and incorporates them into Chinese and English writing. Then, students are able to exhibit a piece they are proud of at the end of the year.

The writing forms include narratives, informative texts, poetry, comics, application letters, reviews, and creative stories, among other diverse genres.

The writing displays are interactive, allowing visitors to provide positive feedback using "likes" stickers or sticky notes. Additionally, students are encouraged to sit in the author's chair and read the works of their fellow authors.

We warmly welcome interested community members to the 2nd-floor Learning Commons to appreciate this year's writing exhibition and provide valuable feedback and suggestions.

04International Secondary Department (ISD) English Language and Literature (LAL) Performances

The ISD Grade 10 students showcased some of the activities that they did in their English LAL classes at the International Campus (IC) 3rd floor Lobby.

The Grade 11 students did an interpretative dance of a song from Dear Evan Hansen, the Grade 10 students did a sales pitch to exhibit their persuasive speaking skills and the Grade 9 students did an adaptation of Chekov’s one-act play entitled the Bear.

These performance exhibitions are geared towards showing the community what fun and exciting things are happening in the English LAL classes!

05Secondary Bilingual Department Students Receive Outstanding Results in External Language Competitions

Recently, we have received lots good news of students winning awards in external competitions.

Under the guidance of their Chinese teacher, students from 10th and 11th grade participated in the Ministry of Education's 1120310 Reading and Writing contest for high school students, and many of them won awards, including first-class, excellent, and even special awards.

Jack from the 8th grade represented IIS in the Mandarin speech group of the language competition in Kaohsiung, and was honored with third place.

All the teachers and students in the bilingual high school department feel proud!

06Distinguished Alumni Returned to the School to Share Their Experiences and Inspire Younger Students to Excel in IB Diploma Programme (DP) Chinese

Distinguished alumni, Amber and Yoyo, returned to the school to give a motivational speech, specifically sharing their valuable Chinese learning experiences and university application journeys with the 11th-grade Chinese class!

Both of them are currently studying at the University of California, Berkeley.

Amber and Yoyo generously shared their insights on preparing for the DP Chinese exam and also imparted secrets to successfully applying to prestigious overseas universities. They vividly described their campus life at Berkeley.

We express our gratitude for the meaningful sharing by these two alumni. Their experiences and knowledge not only ignited the aspirations of the 11th-grade students for college life but also provided a comprehensive and profound understanding of the allure and challenges of the DP program.
