義大焦點 IN FOCUS WEEK 16

01Getting Ready for Christmas in I-Shou International Preschool (ISIP)

The month of December is always a busy and exciting time in the Preschool as we prepare for our Winter concert and the hallways begin feeling festively decorated. This year is no exception as our students have been working hard to get their performances ready for the Winter Concert on December 21st. We know this is going to be a great show as our students look ready and excited for this important event.

The yearly Christmas Door Decorating contest is off to a great start as students and teachers have been showing off their creativity and design skills in interesting new ways. Inside the classrooms students have been working on their fine-motor skills by creating some festive crafts as well.

Christmas Spirit Week will kick off on Monday with a Magical Christmas where students can dress as Harry Potter characters or other magical ideas. There may also be a special visit from someone throughout the week who has presents for the students of the ISIP!

02Primary Department Christmas Caring Drive

It’s that time of year again; the Primary Department Christmas Caring Drive is here! It has become a Christmas tradition in the PD to organise a donation drive to support members of our community.

This year, grade 5 students are extending their learning through action by leading the Caring Drive. They have connected with an organisation to support children in need. They have organised, prepared and presented the information to each Primary class. They are now in the process of collecting donations, and will send the items to the children at the end of the month. Our school community support is greatly appreciated!

December is the month of Empathy at I-Shou, and there is no better way to show our kindness and empathy towards others than by helping those in need!

03International Secondary Department (ISD) Assembly

The ISD students from grades 7 to 12 came together for the semester 1 assembly. The assembly represented a balance of fun and learning, with activities ranging from a game of “Guess Who” with teacher baby pictures, egg roulette played by International Headmaster Matt and ISD Director Patrick, student awards and recognitions, as well as informative sessions about dengue fever and gender equity.

04Grade 9 students in the Secondary Bilingual Department Review Food Nutrition Experiment

Starch and glucose can be tested through iodine solution and Benedict’s Reagent. Grade 9 Students in the SBD reviewed this experiment in their science class. Everyone was so engaged with this experiment!

05Annual Chinese Talent Competition

More than 100 Grade 6-11 students showcased their diverse talents in the Chinese language competition! The competition items include: speech, read aloud, Minnan language, composition, calligraphy, and phonetic and  character graphics and phonetics. This year the theme of the competition is Global Sustainable Development Goals.

Under the guidance of their Chinese teachers, the students have seriously prepared for more than a month and achieved dazzling results this week.
