義大焦點 IN FOCUS WEEK 15

01Technology Week in the ISIP

This has been an exciting and meaningful week at the ISIP as we join the entire school in our annual Technology Week from December 5th to 9th. This is a yearly tradition where students are encouraged to explore different technologies and develop skills which they can apply to their lives. Due to the young age of the ISIP students, it is particularly important that we find age-appropriate ways for them to begin understanding and using technology to support their learning.

To help guide our students' tech exploration we have created five different challenges which students can complete. These challenges include; making use of our computational thinking robots Cubetto and Vex 123, building an invention from cardboard, completing a digital scavenger hunt on SeeSaw, and developing their photography skills. Classes will be given a point for each

02Primary Department Assembly

The Primary Department held a whole department assembly this Thursday! At the assembly, all teachers and students discussed social emotional learning and learned about empathy. As a show of empathy and caring, Grade 5 will lead this year’s Christmas Caring Drive to extend their UOI2 learning through action and into the community! This was presented during assembly and students are eager to start bringing in their donation items.

In addition, the Directors discussed the opening of the new library and learning common. Students were guided to think about how to make good use of the library to enrich learning and reviewed the etiquette and safety of using the common learning space.

Finally, awards were given to students for their Chinese writing performance in the first semester, the Ninja Warrior champions and the students who performed well in external competitions!

03ISD Design Class Solving Real-world Problems!

International Secondary Department Grade 7 students are programming microprocessors (circuit playground) to create lighting installations for the lobby.  Here they are testing and evaluating if the material can reflect or absorb the RGB lights. They will later use laser cutting/engraver to their sculpture for the lighting installations.

04Grades 10 and 11 Aptitude Test Analysis in Secondary Bilingual Department

Understanding personal aptitude will help students to choose their future pathway. The Director of the Counseling Office explained the aptitude test results to the G10 and G11 students in the Secondary Bilingual Department. Students can use this data as one of the important references for choosing university in the near future.

05Creative Writing - Original Handicraft Book

Grade 3 students are working on creative handbooks for summative writing assessment in Chinese class which is connected to the theme of UOI unit - "Art Form".

This week, each student chose character poems or idiom stories to create. After sorting out their own ideas on the writing sheet, they gradually completed each paragraph according to the paragraph structure. Next, students will add the cover, writing content, writer's quotes, and back cover, with illustrations and decorations to complete a unique creative handmade book.
