義大焦點 IN FOCUS WEEK 15

01Primary Department Distance Learning

Students enjoyed the fun of Distance Learning under the professional guidance of their experienced teachers.

Learning included Morning Meetings, guided discussion and sharing in Chinese, Writing Workshop in English, shopping and currency in Math, themed reports in UOI, critical thinking in library, physical movement and art in PE, and teacher office hours. These all kept learning going strong for students.

Health and learning for students is our top priority. Please stay safe, establish good routines, and take care of your family, your friends, and yourself.

02Middle School Department Thrives With Distance Learning

This week at I-Shou International School we moved to a Distance Learning model with all students learning from home.  We send out a weekly Google Sheet before 8 am on Monday morning with the weekly schedule to parents and students with Zoom links to all of their classes.  This is very helpful for our students and parents to organize themselves throughout the week.

Every class has started synchronously with attendance taken in iSAMS.  Attendance has been very good in the Middle School Department on Zoom.  After taking attendance teachers explain the lesson objectives for the day and use various technological platforms to help students with their learning from home.  Our teachers and students are very tech savvy and adaptable and have done well with the switch from a hybrid model last week with some students in school and some students at home to having all students at home this week.

03International Secondary Department (ISD) - A Week Well Done!

Well done to all involved in the ISD this week. The Grade 12 students completed their Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) portfolios, meaning that they really have truly fulfilled all of the IB requirements, while also returning to lessons.

Grade 9-11 moved smoothly into a of week Distance Learning, showing high engagement and effort throughout.

Well done to all involved.

04A Fabulous Week in the Secondary Bilingual Department

Even though the pandemic situation hasn’t cooled down yet, it doesn’t stop teachers and students in the Secondary Bilingual Department from experiencing a marvelous week.

Our grade 9 students attended the national grade 9 comprehensive test. They showed their learning effort in this test and we wish them excellent results.

Also, I-Shou moved to whole school Distance Learning this week. Although our students didn’t come to school, they still show their passion towards learning online. Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences were also held this week to provide a safe and convenient channel allowing parents to learn more about their child’s learning at school.

We look forward to having another great week next week!

05Improvement in Reading Skills:Celebrating SMART READING Achievements for Students in Grades 2-10!

Smart Reading is a system that supplements Chinese reading and is implemented by Chinese teachers to help students to test, plan their reading, and write summaries and reflections. After a long year of hard work, students from Grade 2-10 have achieved excellent results in Smart Reading.

As the school year concludes, all teachers of the Chinese Department would like to congratulate those students who have been awarded outstanding performance in Smart Reading!
