義大焦點 IN FOCUS WEEK 15

01Primary Years Programme (PYP) Students Are Change Agents

I-Shou’s Guiding Statements support students taking action from their learning as IB learners. Teachers and students live this philosophy through teaching and learning, and the resultant actions students take to change the world for themselves and others.

Grade 4 students recently demonstrated this through several actions. They invited Dir. Nick to hear their persuasive writing advocating for playground equipment. They visited Dr. Nanos to discuss the challenges of migration for people without a safe place to stay. They also spoke to students at recess about the changes they would implement if they ran the government.

  Well done!

02Middle School Students Show Talent and Ability During Reader’s Theater

Middle School students and teachers have been working hard to prepare for the annual Reader’s Theater which took place this Wednesday afternoon.  Students develop various, important Approaches to Learning (ATLs) skills in Reader’s Theater such as communication skills, collaboration, self-management, thinking and research skills.  Congratulations to our Reader’s Theater participants and to the teachers that have worked so hard together toward success, achieving the official level of Excellence as a result of their efforts.

03Week 15 - A Week to Make You Proud in the International Secondary Department (ISD)!

It has been a truly super week this week in the International Secondary Department with so many different things going on. In the classroom, Grade 9s have been exploring the concepts of sustainable cities, while the Grade 11s embraced Technology Week by using new online tech to develop useful, student-centered revision tools for each other.

Outside of the classroom the Global Issues Network delivered an excellent week-long event, linked with Amnesty International - “Write for Rights” which is a powerful world-wide drive for students in all schools to speak up for the rights of others. We have also had school photos, basketball matches, and lots of wonderful news in terms of university applications.

 More on this next week!!!

04Secondary Bilingual Department (SBD) Grade 12: Talent Selection Application Mock Interviews

Practice makes perfect!

Secondary Bilingual Department (SBD) Grade 12 students attended their first mock interview under the guidance of Dir. Amanda, Dir. Caroline and Dir. Alvin. After the mock interviews, all students received a lot of suggestions which allowed them to improve their speaking skills and prepare for their formal interviews.

Be confident and we will cheer for you!
