義大焦點 IN FOCUS Week 11

01I-Shou International Preschool (ISIP) Sharing of Learning

Last week the ISIP students were so happy to invite all the parents into classrooms for our Sharing of Learning activities. These events took place on November 3rd and 4th and were a chance for students to introduce their classrooms and learning experiences to their parents. Students from NK to K2 did amazing jobs of leading their families through performances, games, and stations which highlighted the learning that has occurred so far this semester.

This event is a welcome return to normal as Sharing of Learning events had been without parent involvement for the last two years due to COVID-19 restrictions. We are so happy to once again see parents regularly getting into classrooms and being active parts of their child’s learning. We are looking forward to other similar events throughout the year and to see our students develop important presentation skills to better showcase their growth!

02Vibrant Classroom Learning in the Primary Department!

Transdisciplinary learning is happening in the Primary Department which leads each student to carry out a meaningful process of knowledge exploration within rich and interesting curriculum design and activities.

Energetic teachers and students of the Primary Department work together toward specific learning goals throughout each unit. With the use of high quality resources and a safe environment, the Primary Department has entered a new stage and level of learning!

03International Secondary Department (ISD) Art Students are Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe

Grade 8 students in the International Secondary Department are working on their final artworks, which are inspired by the paintings of American artist, Georgia O'Keeffe. Most of the students took their own photos of flowers and used a gridding technique to help them produce enlarged versions of these photos on canvases. Over the next two weeks the students will aim to bring these paintings to glorious realization!

04Secondary Bilingual Department Assembly Celebrated Student Success

Success is a series of small victories. The Secondary Bilingual Department regularly celebrates our students’ outstanding achievements in all areas. During the assembly this week we presented the monthly Learner Profile Awards, Excellence Academic Awards for the first term exam, and Awards from City Contests.

We look forward to continued strong student performance.

05Current News Integrated into Chinese Reading

For 7th and 8th graders in Chinese classes, the students directly integrate contemporary issues into the Chinese class such as conducting research on the tragic Halloween accident in Seoul. The teachers applied The ORID (Objective,Reflective, Interpretive, Decisional) focus discussion method which guided student discussion on mastering personal safety.
