義大焦點 IN FOCUS Week 11

01Setting Goals and Sharing Writing in the Primary Department

For writers, it’s important to set goals to take their writing to the next level, and to share their writing with others. During the Writing Workshop, students frequently reflect on their writing and have conferences with their teacher to see where they can improve. Importantly, goal setting is led by the student and guided by teachers. After they’ve composed a piece of writing, they share it with others, get feedback, and reflect on it. Our Primary Department students are proud of their writing, confident, and don’t see writing as just a task, because it becomes an integral part of self-expression.

02Middle School Students Enjoy “Escape Room” Event

This Thursday evening our High School Student Council (STUCO) hosted an ‘Escape Room’ event for all secondary students grades 6-12.  The event was connected to Halloween and the Fall season, involving pumpkins with lanterns, outdoor and indoor games and events and lots of student camaraderie while showing open-mindedness as our students appreciated the traditions of others.

03International Secondary Department- A Week That Had Something For Everyone

This week in the ISD really typifies what it means to be in an outstanding IB school. There has been a wide range of activities happening - a week where there was something for everyone.

In terms of academics our Grade 10s had a Personal Project Workshop which is a key element of the final years of the MYP. In sports, our Varsity Girls Volleyball were in action in a TISSA tournament and performed well. In addition to this a Grade 11 CAS group organised a pumpkin carving fundraising event that earned valuable funds for a local charity, and had some SPOOKTACULAR final pumpkins to show. Last, but not least our Student Council (STUCO) organised an Escape Room event which kept students baffled for literally hours.
