GET Week  is finally here with 3 trips leaving in the coming  week and 3 trips leaving the week after. The students and teachers are super excited about the many adventure activities they will be doing which include kayaking, high ropes, and hiking to name but a few.

03I-Shou International Preschool: Learning About Our Oceans

There has been lots of great learning happening at the ISIP and students are digging in to their UOI themes. Teachers are always finding creative ways for students to make connections to their learning and provide hands-on activities.

The K2 students have been learning about the ocean and the responsibility they have in taking care of it. They learned about ocean zones, what animals live in each zone, and discussed the effects of pollution in each zone. The students have started making an ocean diorama as a final project for this Unit of Inquiry. This week they finished painting their ocean zones, and added some sand and coral to their dioramas. The students made  kelp and corals using pipe cleaners and bottle caps. They connected this to their math unit where they are learning about patterns in math. The K2's were able to replicate a wide variety of patterns throughout their beautiful creations.

What a great transdisciplinary lesson!

04Parent-Teacher Interviews at Primary Department

This week in the Primary Department, we began our Parent-Teacher interviews. With enthusiastic participation and the support of parents, each interview was a positive experience with the ultimate goal of student growth!

Teachers from grades 1-6 discussed the learning process and successes of each student throughout the year. Parents were also able to share with teachers about goals they have for their child and their learning engagement at home.

During these conferences, teachers and parents are able to build their relationship, communication and cooperation to work together for students’ learning!

05Grade 12 IB Diploma Programme Visual Arts Exhibition

This Monday, March 6th saw the grand opening of the IBDP Visual Arts Exhibition in the I-Shou International School CAS Centre. The event began with a musical performance by Grade 11 students. This was a much anticipated event that the Grade 12 students have worked phenomenally hard to prepare for.

The art works on display represent themes that are close to each student's heart and are complemented by exhibition texts that lucidly communicate the key messages behind each artwork. The many parents who attended this event expressed great pride in the efforts of the students.

06Great Teaching and Learning Are Happening in the Library and Learning Commons

Teachers and students in the Secondary Bilingual Department are all very excited about the opening of the learning commons. The well-designed spaces allow students to do various learning activities. Our teaching faculty are also exploring all the possibilities that can assist student learning in this exciting new facility!

We are grateful for this new addition for our students.

07Grade 3‘s Mandarin Class Learning Idioms Through Integrated Activity Combining Stories and Games

In the third lesson of the third grade Mandarin class, "Encounter with Beautiful Grandma," students tried to match idioms and input the correct characters by observing the idiom pictures presented on Seesaw. They practiced recognizing and pronouncing words.

After the teacher taught the meaning and allusions of the idioms, students reviewed their answers to the picture matching questions and finally did a fill-in-the-blank exercise with idiomatic phrases to deepen their impression and master the application of idioms.
