General qualifications include a preference for two years of teaching experience, an active and current teaching certificate, a willingness to participate in the school’s extra-curricular program, and a commitment to excellence in a student centered school.
Prospective faculty should have strong sense of school community that fosters communication within the classroom and through involvement with clubs, activities and sports. Teachers should understand the role of the IIS teacher within the community by effectively, positively, and professionally presenting themselves as role models.
I-Shou International School, as our highest priority, commits to supporting a school environment that safeguards children through both prevention and intervention. All candidates for hire undergo a rigorous screening process, which includes criminal background checks and employer references for all countries of previous work and/or residence.
Primary School
Teachers should have a teaching degree with a breadth of knowledge across all subject areas with either early childhood or elementary education certification. Inquiry learning experience is essential with IB PYP experience preferred.
Secondary School
Teachers should have a teaching degree, a major with breadth and depth in the subject area to be taught and secondary education certification. All teachers should demonstrate an understanding of and ability to work with a substantial number of EAL (English as an Additional Language) and CAL (Chinese as an Additional Language) students.
