- WHEN IS THE SCHOOL YEAR?
The school year runs from early September to late June.
- WHAT ARE THE SCHOOL HOURS?
The school runs Monday through Friday.
The hours are:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8.00 a.m. to 4.25 p.m.
Wednesday: 8.00 a.m. to 3.05 p.m.
for grades 1 through 12.
- WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?
As spaces are limited, early application in January/February is recommended for September entry.
However, as we are an international school, applications are accepted year round, and applications made throughout the academic year will be reviewed on an individual basis.
- APPLYING FROM OVERSEAS
Where applications have to be made from overseas, online interview can be arranged.
- IS THERE A WAITING LIST?
Where an applicant meets the entry criteria but there are no spaces available, the applicant will be placed on a waiting list. Parents will be contacted as soon as a place becomes available in the appropriate year group. Depending on the time elapsed since the last successful assessment, a further assessment may be required at that time to ascertain the child’s current progress; in these cases, the second assessment will be offered free of charge.
- STUDENT:TEACHER RATIOS AND CLASS SIZES
The teachers at I-Shou International School pride themselves on the care they give to students and the partnership they form with parents to allow children to be happy as well as successful. Our student / teacher ratios are key in supporting these goals at every level in the school.
The overall student / teacher ratio in the school is 6:1. The maximum for each class size is 25 students.
- DOES I-SHOU PROVIDE SCHOOL TRANSPORT?
Yes. We offer a school bus service to certain parts of the city.
The School Bus service is available for students starting in Year 1 to Year 12.
Students must be picked up and dropped off by an approved parent or guardian if not using the school bus service.
- IS THERE A SCHOOL UNIFORM?
We have different school uniforms for different age ranges.
The school uniform is compulsory for all students. There are also different sports and formal wear for different activities and occasions. Students are expected to wear their uniforms neatly and with pride.
- ARE THERE SCHOOL MEALS/LUNCH/SNACKS?
We provide your child with lunch during the day. For the safety of children who have serious allergies (e.g. to dairy, wheat or nuts), we strongly suggest you inform the school in advance during the admission procedure.
*Primary students will have their snack during the afternoon break time.
*ISD G9-12 students and SBD G10-12 students will have their lunch in the university food court. Students are encouraged to be responsible when making decisions for their own meal. Lunch fee is not included in their tuition.
- WHAT STANDARDIZED TESTING IS NEEDED FOR ADMISSION TO I-SHOU?
An oral interview and test are required for the admissions procedure.
Primary Grade 1-5: Oral interview plus English, Chinese, and Math Test
Middle School Grade 6-8: Oral interview plus English, Chinese, and Math Test
International programme Grade 9-12: Oral interview plus English, Chinese, and Math Test
National programme Grade 9-12: Bilingual oral interview plus English, Chinese, and Math Test
- HOW MUCH IS THE TUITION? WHEN SHOULD I PAY FOR IT?
Each year, I-SHOU will provide the fee schedule for each academic year. Please contact admissions staff for more information.
Once you have enrolled as an I-SHOU student, the school will issue the payment bill with included payment deadlines.
Registration should be updated at the end of each academic year to ensure continued enrollment.
- HOW CAN I APPLY FOR THE BOARDING HOUSE?
All grade 6-12 students are qualified to apply for the school boarding programme. You may contact the boarding division in Student Affairs Office for more information.

- HOW SHOULD I HELP MY CHILD TO PREPARE HIS/HER LANGUAGE ABILITY?
All students are assessed by the Director of the Academic Department before becoming an I-Shou student. Once your child is enrolled, his/her level will be examined and taught according to their identified level. Each student is different and each year level supports multiple language levels. Your child will be fully supported by the staff and school.
- WHAT KIND OF ACTIVITIES DOES SCHOOL PROVIDE?
There are more than 70 clubs offered from Grade 1 to 12. Students in each grade level can choose the activities that best suit their interest and age.
- ARE STUDENTS ALLOWED TO USE LAPTOP OR MOBILE PHONE AT SCHOOL?
Students are allowed to use laptop or mobile phone with the permission from teachers.
Laptops are a tool for educational learning and mobile phones can be used for many purposes under supervision by teachers.
We see those devices as the useful and meaningful tools to educate students how to work in a 21st century world.
- DOES THE SCHOOL PROVIDE ANY TRIAL CLASSES OR WINTER/SUMMER CAMPS?
There is no trial classes for each grade level.
All students are enrolled and report to Taiwan Ministry of Education with registered status.
Each winter/summer break, the school offers camps to different countries, all students are from I-Shou and will be accompanied by I-SHOU teachers as to ensure their security during the days overseas.
- WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATION OF SCHOOL TEACHERS?
All host countries teachers and overseas teachers have their qualified teaching qualification in their teaching areas. Teachers at I-Shou will either attend IB workshops and receive IB resources to support their teaching.
