Diploma G11-G12
The IB Diploma Programme is designed as an academically challenging and balanced programme of education that prepares students for successful entry into university and employment.
IB Diploma Programme (DP)
All students in the International Secondary Department (ISD) at I-Shou International School study the DP Core, which broadens students’ educational experiences and challenges them to apply their knowledge and skills.
The three components of the core are:
Theory of knowledge, in which students reflect on the nature of knowledge and on how we know what we claim to know.
The extended essay, which is an independent, self-directed research project, resulting in a 4,000-word academic paper.
Creativity, activity, service (CAS), in which students undertake a range of experiences related to those three concepts, and complete a collaborative project.

DP Subjects
The DP offers subjects in six subject groups, which are:
Studies of Language and Literature
Language Acquisition
Individuals and Societies
Sciences
Mathematics
The Arts
There are different subjects offered in each subject groups. Students select one subject from each group. Students may opt to study an additional sciences, individuals and societies, or languages course, instead of a course in the arts. Students must study two languages. At IIS, all students study Chinese and English.
Most subjects are offered at both Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL). Students are expected to study three subjects at Higher Level. Students in Higher Level classes are expected to demonstrate a greater body of knowledge, skill and understanding.

one student at a time...
"Stepping into my senior year, academic work became weightier; however, in a role of Varsity Soccer Team player and the captain of Varsity and ACAMIS Basketball Team, my I-Shou school life has been light-hearted and jaunty. Being a student-athlete has taught me how to balance my time shrewdly, though to take both student and athlete into account can be tiring and obstinate, but with the school’s meticulous care and being strongly supportive through the process, it is attainable. In my opinion, The DP course provides a diverse learning environment with various opportunities for students to develop new interests, achieving a higher-level of success as an individual both inside and outside of the classroom." - Ryan Sun

"The subjects and the quality of the education at I-Shou International School have made my education an enjoyable one. With the assistance from the teachers and my peers, I am able to conduct research and gather resources efficiently. The various activities the school offers, alongside the CAS programme, gives me the opportunity to take over the role of the leader, which transformed me into an independent individual who can handle stress and take responsibility. Overall, the IBDP is a challenging yet rewarding programme that allows students to strive for their full potential." - Candy Chen

"I-Shou International School provides a great balance of academics and extracurricular activities. The DP course offered at I-Shou provides a rigorous academic experience that focuses on developing learning skills that benefits students in the future. It also provides an opportunity for students to develop in various areas and engage with the community and global issues through the CAS programme. The activities program in I-Shou helps the students maintain a balanced lifestyle. Each day, students join activities from a variety of choices including sports, music, art, etc. As a student that often joins the sporting activities, I believe these activities have developed me as a balanced and collaborative person. In I-Shou the challenging DP programme, and the activities programme, combine to develop students into balanced learners and great global citizens." - Hero Liu

"I have spent almost the whole of my education and athletic career in I-Shou, and studied the PYP, MYP and DP. In the PYP there were many breaks and physical education classes for students to exercise, along with their indoor learning. Then, during the years in the MYP and DP, opportunities are given to join school sports teams like TISSA and ACAMIS, where you get to have training sessions with your friends and compete in sports with other international schools in Taiwan and overseas. Overall, the programmes in I-Shou have really helped me a lot to balance between sports and learning. Not everyone has the same opinion about the value of sport but the coaches and directors in the school always supported me to pursue my passion. Through the education in I-Shou, I get to enjoy a well-balanced learning environment that enables socialization, learning and sport" - Jercy Tiong
