LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Welcome to I-Shou International School!
As superintendent of I-Shou International School, it gives me great pleasure to welcome each of you to our school website!
I-Shou Int'l School is a renowned leader in international bi-lingual education with its focus on 21st century skill development through student centered, inquiry based teaching and learning, and innovative technology and Maker Education programs. Founded in 2004, we currently enroll approximately 700 students.
We provide multiple pathways for our internationally minded learners leading to competitive national and international university entrance.
A vibrant extracurricular program for grades 1-12 provides students with a valuable dimension for student exposure to a wide array of sports, activities, and club options.
Our co-educational residential program, housed in state of the art facilities, fosters student growth and a sense of community within a family atmosphere.
As an IB Continuum school (PYP, MYP, and DP) accredited by the Council of International Schools, we also maintain regional and international partnerships with leading schools, universities, and prominent educational organizations.
More recently, a spirit of renewal and excitement pervades the school as a variety of school improvement initiatives has fueled school growth and development in the areas of technology integration, a data driven focus on student and school performance, and the opening of our new grades 6-8 middle school in August 2018.
We constructively shape the trajectories of students' lives, expanding their possibilities for success as lifetime learners and global citizens, in both shaping their minds and touching their hearts.
With outstanding faculty, staff, and students, along with excellent board and parent support, I am grateful for the opportunity to link my life to such an extraordinary school with so inspiring a mission of service and Guiding Statements which frame our work at I-Shou.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, or would like to hear more about our school. We stand ready to assist you in any way possible.
Dr. Peter Nanos
LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Welcome to I-Shou International School!
IIS is located in the Guang-Yin Mountain region and hosts amazing scenery. This unique geographic environment provides an idyllic environment matching the quality of education offered. At IIS we not only offer the 12-year mandated school curriculum but scaffold essential skills in our pre-school programme. To ensure effective teaching, we minimise class sizes to approximately 20 students with an emphasis on 21st-century skills, international-mindedness, and world citizenship.
I-Shou International School was formed by the founder of E-United Group, Mr I-Shou Lin, in 2004. Mr Lin understood the importance of education, and created a plan to provide a complete learning experience – “From kindergarten to university.” Mr Lin originally developed the “Private Tzu-En Primary School” in the “Grand Kaohsiung Wal City” Development Project. The school was named after his mother in appreciation of the loving upbringing she provided. Sometime later, the school name changed to “I-Shou International Middle and Primary School” and operated under the 9-year compulsory education programme for middle school and primary school. In 2007, the high school was established, and the name also changed to “I-Shou International School” per private school law.
Since the establishment of IIS, we have continuously strived to shape the future of education in Taiwan and for continued sustainable development of our school. As an international school, we know the importance of nurturing world citizens. We achieve this by focusing on literacy in a global context and by providing an environment which will equip students a cross-cultural understanding.
Bilingual education is the most crucial aspect of a complete international school, and at IIS we consider all faculty as language teachers. Bilingual education is not only learning the vocabulary, but it is also learning through language. To this end, we strive to create an environment where bilingualism is celebrated.
